Orland is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,221 at the 2020 census. == Geography == According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 52.87 square miles (136.93 km2), of which 47.04 square miles (121.83 km2) is land and 5.83 square miles (15.10 km2) is water. == Demographics == === 2010 census === At the 2010 census there were 2,225 people, 976 households, and 627 families living in the town. The population density was 47.3 inhabitants per square mile (18.3/km2). There were 1,470 housing units at an average density of 31.3 per square mile (12.1/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.3% White, 0.1% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2%. Of the 976 households 24.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 35.8% were non-families. 27.9% of households were one person and 8% were one person aged 65 or older.
